  • Codirecteur du La.P.Jo.B. (Late Prehistoric Jordan Basin) Project et de la mission franco-jordanienne à Tell Abu Habil, à la confluence des fleuves Jourdain et Yarmouk.  
  • Responsable des activités de terrain à Tell el-‘Oueili (Gouvernorat de Dhi Qar, Nasiriya, Irak du Sud), de l’étude des céramiques préhistoriques de la prospection régionale et des structures de production du site de Larsa, dans le cadre de la Mission Archéologique Française à Larsa-Oueili (dir. R. Vallet, CNRS).  
  • Membre de la MAFGS (Mission archéologique française du Gouvernorat de Sulaymānīyah, Kurdistan irakien – dir. J. Giraud) : prospection et sondages stratigraphiques ; responsable des céramiques des 7ème-4ème millénaires av. J.-C.  
  • Membre chargé de l’étude des céramiques pré- et protohistoriques de plusieurs missions françaises et internationales au Liban (notamment No.Le.P. – Northern Levant Project, vallée de Koura – dir. M. Iamoni, Université de Udine et M. Haïdar, Université Libanaise ; Yanouh-Nahr Ibrahim, dir. R. Harfouche UMR 7041).  
  • 2015-2019 Archéologue chercheur MEAE au Département d’Archéologie et Histoire Ancienne (DAHA) de l’Ifpo à Beyrouth.

Fouilles préventives

  • Entre 1998 et 2015, travaux en archéologie préventive en Italie, France et Grand Bretagne.
  • Chargé d’opérations de fouille, encadrement d’étudiants, expertises et diagnostics

Travaux en cours

  • Fouilles et prospections dans le Piémont du Zagros au Kurdistan Irakien. Recherches sur :
    • la régionalisation des traditions céramiques à l’est du Tigre,
    • expansion des communautés Obeid (6ème millénaire) et Uruk (4ème millénaire) sud-mésopotamiennes
    • relations entre émergence(s) de l’urbanisation et systèmes organisationnels proto-urbains
    • chaînes opératoires et systèmes et structures de productions (ateliers, outils, fours) céramiques.
  • Fouilles et prospections au Levant central et du Sud (Liban-Jordanie). Recherches sur :
    • expansion de l’Obeid au Levant
    • occupation de la Vallée du Jourdain entre la fin du Chalcolithique et le début du Bronze Ancien (4ème millénaire)
    • chaînes opératoires et systèmes et structures de productions (ateliers, outils, fours) céramiques.
  • Étude des chaînes opératoires céramique dans leur contexte spatial : intégration des « manières traditionnelles » de produire les céramiques dans des SIG à l’échelle de sites, micro- et méso-régions (Larsa-Oueili en Irak du Sud, districts de Rania, Peshdar et Bingrd au Kurdistan Irakien, moyenne Vallée du Jourdain).
  • Déconstruction de la notion de « culture » archéologique : recherche d’outils conceptuels différents pour caractériser les entités culturelles pré- et protohistoriques (SIG pour distinguer la répartition dan l’espace des différents traits et pratiques culturelles ; modélisation des modalités d’emprunts techniques ; différentiation entre la mobilité des groupes humains et la diffusion des traits culturels).
  •  Approche archéologique du passé récent : fouilles et études des matériels et « archéographie » des maisons détruites par la guerre civile au Liban (Beyrouth, Qleiaat) et par la campagne génocidaire al-Anfal au Kurdistan Irakien.
  •  Archéologie, ethnoarchéologie et épistémologie des habiletés techniques des artisans. Expériences, interviews, observation de la variabilité des gestes techniques (notamment dans l’utilisation des tours et des fours de potier entre Toscane, Écosse, Sicile et Proche-Orient) : comment la relation aux matériaux se spécialise et devient un savoir empirique solide dépassant le cadre de la matérialité ? Et comment les chaînes opératoires traditionnelles deviennent non seulement des manières de faire, mais aussi des façons d’appréhender la réalité ?
