Résumé du projet de recherche

My PhD research focuses on the castles and defensive systems of the Nizārī Ismāʻīlīs in the Quhistān region (eastern Iran), where they established their state between the 11th and 13th centuries CE (5th–7th centuries AH).

Based on a Historical Archaeology approach, this study combines the analysis of primary historical sources with the examination of underexplored archaeological materials from these castles, including newly found inscriptions, ceramics, and architectural remains.

The aim is to provide a clearer understanding of the economic, social, cultural, and political dynamics of Quhistān during the Nizārī period — a region that has remained largely understudied despite its significant role in the history of Iran.
